I have not taken a valid reason for showing a pretty weird icon of VeraCrypt in the system tray on Windows, when it mounts virtual drives. It should not need to use another look of icon instead of the original one. To save and keep an identity of program icon would be more important than the notification of status in each program. Then I turn off an option in the setting for VeraCrypt like above image.

Perhaps it might be better to notify the change of status in a program by changing its color or contrast from the default or normal status, or making use of an additional image on the right-bottom of icon. But it should keep an identity and avoid for making any confusion with these additional visual notifications in any way. Yes it can be a reason to resist against this policy for a fact that in some cases we would not find the status of this program if the icon were ideintical in any status. (We can forget unmount drives at leaving office.) So we can make the best way to keep an identity of application and notify its status with an addition of some mark of status on the icon. We can be easily confused by changing its color with a quite differenct tone.
